Hebron Ohio Historical Society
The Village of Hebron was platted in 1827 and the Hebron Historical Society was founded in 1974. Meetings are held the 1st Monday of the month at 7:30pm at the Masonic Temple on N.High Street just behind Park National Bank. Dawes Arboretum
The Dawes Arboretum is dedicated to enriching lives through the conservation of trees and nature. Founded in 1929 by Beman and Bertie Dawes, The Arboretum was inspired by the couple’s love of trees and nature. Today we remain dedicated to our mission through providing exceptional educational programs and events as well as maintaining incredible horticulture collections on nearly 2,000 acres of beautiful grounds. Buckeye Lake Historical Society
The Society was founded at Buckeye Lake, Ohio in 1995 and the museum opened in 1998. Please stop in and view our huge collection of Buckeye Lake Park memorabilia. Our group covers Perry, Licking and Fairfield counties including the communities of Hebron, Millersport and Thornville, along with Buckeye Lake. Visit the museum online here.
Flint Ridge State Memorial Park and Museum
Hike trails through the 533-acre preserve and see ancient pits left by America Indians who came from the surrounding area to quarry flint. The unique rainbow-colored flint was used as an item of trade, tools and weapons. Within the museum, learn about Ohio’s official gemstone and the shaping of flint into tools, known as knapping. A picnic area with tables, grills, drinking water and restrooms is available for visitors to the quarry. Average visit time: Allow 1+ hours. Learn more online here.
Newark Earthworks
The Newark Earthworks are the largest set of geometric earthen enclosures in the world. Already a National Historic Landmark, in 2006, the State of Ohio designated the Newark Earthworks as "the official prehistoric monument of the state." Learn more about the earthworks by visiting the Great Circle Museum. Visitors are invited to watch an interactive video explaining the significance of the site and tour a 1,000-square-foot exhibit that includes a timeline of Ohio's ancient cultures and an explanation of why American Indians regard the Newark Earthworks as a sacred site. Blackhand Gorge
The prime feature of this preserve is a narrow, east-west gorge cut by the Licking River through the famous Black Hand sandstone formation. National Trail Raceway
